SHIRLEY II: 2018 - 19

“Shirley II” was built in 1956 by J N Miller & Sons in St Monans. She is the only Miller’s boat in the museum collection and she was built as the first prototype of a series of fishing boats identified as “Fifer inshore fishing boats”. “Shirley II” is currently stored on the museum premises and she will be included in the museum displays at the end of 2019, after some essential stabilisation work. Work strategy

Phase 1: creation of supports which will preserve her shape without putting at risk the hull integrity

Phase 2: preservation and stabilisation works on the original fabric such as metal protection and refastening where necessary

Phase 3: creation of a display to interpret the original fabric of the vessel
