An Engine and some propellors.

Engine Room

A passageway leads down into the Engine Room, which illustrates the mechanisation of fishing: the means by which the fishing gear was managed and the means by which the boat was propelled. There are examples of a hand-powered and a steam-powered line-hauler, of capstans and winches, and of Gardner and Kelvin engines of various kinds.

Fishmonger's Shop

Here is a lifelike tableau of a fishmonger’s shop, with many familiar types of seafood on offer - the end product of the whole process.

The gallery also houses a small display created by the members of the Scottish Fisheries Museum Boats Club about our two sailing vessels, Reaper and White Wing
