The WAVES Café and Merchant’s Room Gallery

Monday + Wednesday - Saturday, 10am - 4pm, Sunday, 11am - 4pm

Offering a selection of hot/cold snacks and hot/cold beverages as well as delicious home baking.

Please note: Entrance on Hadfoot Wynd.

With windows looking across the harbour on one side and our fourteenth century courtyard on the other, our café is a pleasant spot, open to all in need of light refreshments, whether it be for breakfast to start your day off well, lunch to recharge the batteries or in the afternoon, tea and an irresistible piece of cake. You don’t need to pay for museum admission to use the café but we hope that you will visit our fascinating exhibitions having been fortified with homemade soup, jacket potatoes and sandwiches, or treated yourself to a warming tea or coffee and a homemade cake or scone.

Please note that the WAVES Café closes half an hour before the Museum closing time.

Our café seats around 40, spilling over into our bright, wood-panelled Merchant’s Room gallery – an eighteenth century merchant’s dwelling – which hosts twelve community art exhibitions a year.

Part of the café is accessible to disabled visitors and families with push chairs. We also have highchairs available.

The WAVES Café is very much part of the welcoming, informal and lively atmosphere to be found at the museum. When the weather is warmer, take your sandwiches/snacks and beverages outside to our courtyard seating area or sit in a window seat and sample local products such as a freshly baked Barnett’s roll filled with a choice of filling, as you watch the world go by.

All profits from the café go directly to support the work of the museum.
